Home > John Laing Overview John Laing OverviewJohn Laing’s business is focused on the finance, delivery and operation of public sector infrastructure, delivered through public private partnerships using both traditional PFI and innovative funding methods.We have harnessed our project management skills to the delivery of public sector facilities and community projects drawing on our long heritage and reputation as one of the leading providers of infrastructure in the UK, Europe and internationally. Innovation, flexibility and reliability are the cornerstones on which our business is founded and the qualities by which our customers have come to know us. Our reputation is the product of our success in delivering 66 privately-financed infrastructure schemes for the public sector, ranging from the award-winning MoD HQ in London’s Whitehall, the ground-breaking Croydon Urban Regeneration Vehicle, the Second Severn Crossing between England and Wales, as well as hospital, school and major road projects in the UK and Europe. Government departments, local authorities and other public bodies such as hospital trusts come to us for our project development experience, operating skills, creativity and ability to finance their scheme through the most appropriately structured investment package. This may be in the form of traditional PFI, but equally could utilise the innovative Local Asset Backed Vehicle (LABV) through regeneration-led initiatives. Our commitment is long-term and we put a great deal of effort into forging lasting partnerships with our clients. We work hard to achieve a thorough understanding of their objectives from the outset through consultation, in order to develop deliverable and affordable PPP solutions that best meet their needs and those of their end-users. Our priority is to deliver the facilities and services best tailored to our clients’ needs, but we are also careful to ensure that both they and the ultimate end-users - whether they are teachers or pupils, nurses or patients, motorists or social housing residents - are brought fully into the process. This also includes third parties such as local communities whom we endeavour to treat with consideration by, for instance, keeping disruption from construction activities to a minimum. Social responsibility is part of our heritage. As a significant employer in the built environment for many years, we have consistently acknowledged our obligations to our workforce, and the communities and the environment in which we operate, setting high standards in our contribution to sustainability and social welfare. Our ultimate commitment to our clients is the financial investment that we are prepared to make in every project we undertake. With our money and our reputation at stake, we have a commercial interest in dealing with issues promptly, learning and applying lessons and going the extra mile to solve a client’s problem. As the eventual long-term operator of a completed facility, we are determined that it is handed over in the best possible order.
